The story of Six Gun Chili Mixin’s starts back in 1948, deep in San Angelo, Texas — as close to chili country as you can get without spillin’ beans. That’s where the Ol’ Hired Hand, our founder and resident chili wrangler, first started cookin’ up batches of bold, trail-tested chili using a family recipe that packed flavor, spice, and a heapin’ dose of Western grit.

Folks back then believed chili could cure warts, grow hair, and generally make a better man of ya. We ain’t claimin’ all that, but we do know one thing — what Will Rogers said is true:
“A bowl of chili is a bowl of blessedness.”

By 1978, we bottled up that legacy into what would become our very first product: Six Gun Original Chili Mixin’s, a complete dry blend that lets you cook award-winning chili in just 30 minutes — your way. Hot, mild, with beans or without, it’s a mixin’ that made its way into cookoffs, campfires, kitchens, and even the U.S. Senate, where it was honored as “An American Original.”

Not long after, we turned up the heat with our second blend: Six Gun Chipotle Chili Mixin’s, featuring slow-roasted chipotle peppers from Old Mexico. It’s got that smokey-sweet flavor that’ll knock your boots off and get the neighbors talkin’.

Today, we’re still doin’ what we do best — makin’ chili the cowboy way. No shortcuts, no weird stuff, just real ingredients, rich flavor, and a story in every spoonful.

Before there was a Six Gun Chili Mixin's, there was Ol' Hired Hand.

He wasn't a sheriff or an outlaw. He wasn't looking for fame. He was the cowboy everyone counted on—the first one awake to saddle horses, mend fences, and keep the coffee hot before sunrise.

Out on the cattle trails, long days demanded hearty meals, and nothing brought a camp together like a cast iron pot of chili simmering over the fire. Ol' Hired Hand learned that a handful of honest spices, good company, and a little patience could turn a simple meal into something worth remembering.

His recipe traveled from campfires to kitchens, passed down through generations until it became Six Gun Chili Mixin's.

Today, his spirit still lives on in every packet. It's a reminder that the best recipes aren't invented—they're earned.
